Youth of the world UNITE, for a barrier free WORLD
Yuvsatta (youth for peace), a Chandigarh based NGO in online partnership with The Sip of Life brought to you International Youth Peace Festival 2010.
The NGO is working in a variety of areas to steer the people towards implementing Gandhian ideas of Constructive Programme based on voluntary effort and individual & community action.
Every year Yuvsatta organizes an International Youth Peace Festival in Chandigarh, from September 27 i.e. International Day of Tourism to October 2, International Day of Nonviolence.
Started in 2006, with just 100 students from two neighbouring countries of India & Pakistan, last year the Peace Fest witnessed participation of over 500 youngsters from 12 different nations and this year more than 1000 young students from over 20 countries and different states of India participated in the same.
The scope of the aforesaid initiative is not limited to just 1000 young national & international delegates, but during the six days of Peace Fest they all reached out to more than 2,00,000 youngsters in 100 other prominent Schools & Colleges which were associated with the initiative. On the eve Gandhi Jayanti all the students in local schools took pledge to uphold values of nonviolence. On October 2nd a Peace Parade comprising more than 15000 young people was organized in favour of a “world without wars” from Parade ground to Panjab University.
Plus, besides Schools & Colleges of tricity i.e. Chandigarh-Panchkula-SAS Nagar (Mohali), institutions like GGD SD College, Sector 32 (where major part of the Peace Fest was organized), State Cell of NSS, Chandgarh, Municipal Corporation (which hosted an evening for foreign visitors), Chandigarh, Education Department, Chandigarh Administration, Panjab University & Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India, Gurukul School, Paragon Sr. Sec. School, Gurukul Global School, Saupins Schools, Shivalik School etc. were also associated with this mega event.
And prominent amongst those who graced the Peace Fest-2010 with their presence included Tara Gandhi Bhatacharjee, Granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Cabinet Minister, Govt. of India, Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Justice Mukul Mudgal, Chief Justice, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Cabinet Minister of Haryana Randeep Singh Surjewala, Padma Vibhushan Sunder Lal Bahuguna, Raman Magsasay Award winner Sandeep Pandey & also American Gandhi’s Bernie Meyer and Donald McAvinchey.
ART FEST 2010
Art Fest 2010 was organized by A3 Foundation on 19 September in Government Museum and Art Gallery Auditorium in Sector 10, Chandigarh in online partnership with The Sip of Life. The 23rd event of A3 foundation – Art Fest witnessed enthusiastic participation in three different competitions – music, poetry and photography.
The Foundation is affiliated with the sustainable association of architects, Australia. Through the medium of seminars, conferences, group discussions and other allied system of education the foundation is active in multidimensional growth of the profession. The foundation works by putting up exhibitions of the architects, holding workshops, institutions and school of architecture including arranging talks of various eminent architects.
The brainchild behind the foundation, Sangeet Sharma honoured Uttam Chand, an eminent Architectural Photographer and Ramphal, an Architectural Model-Maker for their contribution in the field of architecture at the function.
Atul Sharma, renowned music director was the judge for the musical event. Entries were invited for three different categories of songs: filmy, non filmy and folk. There were 15 entries in filmy category, 15 in non filmy and around 10 in folk category.
The ‘A3 Foundation Idol” trophy was bagged by Jaspinder from MCM DAV College. The winners of the Photography competition and Poetry competition were announced. The awardees shall be felicitated at the 24th event of A3 foundation on November 20.
