Anything for Popcorns!

I never knew i would have fascination for a pack of popcorns to the extent that even after so many years, I love it as much as I did when I was a child.

This Saturday Punch is dedicated to my popcorns, which I am sure will bring a smile on your face, but not just reading this, but also realising how much it mattered to you. Try remembering how popcorns were never so upmarket commondity and used to be sold mostly on hand-driven carts for as less as a rupee or two.
The taste still lingers inside me and my taste buds long for those popcorns which tasted much simpler than the ones being sold much costlier in market places or in malls and multiplexes.
There were no caramel or microwave popcorns, still the salted ones cooked in sand and sold on carts brought a smile on our faces. I remember not missing out popcorns even once when I used to go with my parents to the market, holding their hands, and pulling them too, the moment I would see a popcorn vending machine (a common sight in marketplaces).

I would often tell them I could even die for a pack of popcorns and they would often laugh at me. But they knew how much a pack of popcorn mattered to me and would never let me miss one whenever we were out for a movie or for shopping.
The best part was that it took no time to finish them as I would grab the packet and finish it all in a few minutes. I would eat like a famished person (I was always famished for popcorns) and felt that in every corn was hidden a smile for every small child.
Prices have gone up and so has my craving for popcorns. I can never resist having a pack whenever I get a chance. I still look for the hand-driven carts, which are nowhere to be seen in big cities, but the hero – “Popcorn” has survived and its there to remain in all times to come!
