The Love Triangle
After a long break, The Sip of Life is back with it’s weekly column, Saturday Punch. For all our new readers, every Saturday I share memories of yesteryears which bring a smile on my face. Those memories which are close to the heart, yet seem far away and in an effort to bring them back, I recollect them, trying to hold them tight before they slip away from my mind.
As a child, as you know, mothers pamper their children a lot, and I was fortunately one of them. Fond of eating, I would often ask her to make me some sweet dish after the meals, and what fascinated the most to me was Egg and Parantha (Pan-fried Indian flat-bread)! The best part was that I would ask my mom to make it in triangle shape, wonder why, but I loved having it when it looked like a triangle. I would call it the love triangle!
She would so fondly make them for me, and I would take a lot of time having them, just because I knew eating them would mean losing my triangle. I would often try my hand in making one, but would end up messing it up and making it look like an alien spaceship.
Funny are the minds of children I feel now, but do cherish those memories which can never come back again. Surprisingly, she still remembers it and often makes a triangle parantha for me, but now without me asking for it. And it brings a smile on my face, and hers too.
A mother can never change, as for her their children are still the same. You grow up and your priorities change, but not hers because she has seen you craving for small things which are big for her. And she values you for still being her little one who once held her fingers so many times a day, and now often have to think when did you last hold her hand!

well written Amit ! what you brought back by this Saturday sip is a very sweet memory.I am a mom now and see that the notion of a delicacy for kids nowadays is something packaged and expensive, but I am sure no matter what generation we are, a few decades down the line we realize the best food is the food cooked by mom !
