Reading Books? Not My Cup of Tea
I have always been fascinated by books at the book shops, but have never been an ardent reader because reading somehow always makes me doze off. I remember same was the case when I was a student. I would often go off to sleep and my parents would be left trying to bring me back to ‘study mode’.
Somehow I have loved people who read or write books and those buying books at the book stores. The buyers look at the hardbound covers, their concentration and finally their going to the counter purchasing one. And I marvel at those who have the courage to write so much and keep writing with same zeal and wild imagination.
Many a time my friends recommended me books, even gave them to me to read but I would often return them without reading them. Never have the time or the confidence that I will complete it without my eyes closing. I still try but often end up asleep, and still wonder at myself, when I love writing, how that I don’t love reading it.
Books are definitely your best friends, as my mom often says. She has been an avid reader and still has a good collection. I have only tales to listen to, from my friends who often come up telling me about their latest reads. I just smile and my hearts says, “Dear it’s not your cup of tea”, but I still keep visiting book stores and enriching myself with what’s latest on the racks!

an intriguing headline!
Especially when the columnist happens to be a prolific writer, infact this coaxed me to read into the whole column & was an interesting piece of honest confession, expressed honestly and this one I will never share with my brat lest he follows one vice of his honest uncle
Same here, i used to study under pressure of exam only but a good novel (especially a thriller) could keep me awake all night. But that was never the case with study books. curious!
