Clamour for Glamour: Not Worth It!
Suicide by Viveka Babajee, the former Indian supermodel has come as a rude shock for all of us. 37 year old was a jovial person but her close friends say she was lonely at heart.
Sadly, the supermodel was planning to adopt a child to kill her loneliness but before she did that, she ended her life by hanging herself in her Mumbai flat last week. She had faced a number of failed relationships earlier and was in need of an emotional support.
This incident has again brought to light how fast paced rich celebrity life is not always satisfying as it was in her case, as she had done a number of ramp shows, posed for Kamasutra, Coca-Cola and Live In Jeans and was a former Miss World contestant and had even been crowned Miss Mauritius in 1993.
It’s just an eye-opener for many young girls as well who are always craving for a celebrity life and end up ruining their lives. The movie, Fashion, was a stark reminder of the lives of models behind the curtains in green rooms and also revealed stories behind their success.
And it’s not just the Indian fashion industry which is a victim to a life full of struggles, sacrifices and sarcasm, but same goes for models abroad who in an effort to hog limelight, do make it big in the industry but lose a lot to achieve it. The sad part is we cannot do much about it, but surely we must keep ourselves away from these harsh realities lest we give in to clamour for glamour!
